day two.

so yesterday it was day one with two to go...thats changed. so today should've been two days down one to go. not anymore.

now it is two down, two to go. {technically it is two down four to go...ill explain as the blog goes on}

so heres how today went.

i got to the dayani center {where i do rehab 3 days a week} at 8AM for my 6 minute walk. i was done there by 8:30. we made it to my 9AM EKG appointment right on time and i was done with that by 9:30. well heres where it got tricky. my Echo appointment wasn't until 11. and it couldn't be done until then so we just had to wait. which i decided to sleep in the waiting room for this entire hour and a half wait. i just couldnt stay awake to read {sorry janie!!} my eyes and body would not let me. so with a noisy waiting room of about as much as 40 people at some points i slept like a baby!! i snuggled up in my little chair up against my mama and i woke up maybe twice. it was wonderful. SO, at 11 until 11:45 i did the Echo. then we had to wait until 12:30 to see my cardiologist. i loved my cardiologist! he was just great! he determined from the Echo that one side of my heart was a smiggen bigger than the other...also, that the pressure in my heart was up a teeny tiny bit {a result of the CF and the stress my lungs put on my heart}. because of these two factors Dr. C wants to do a heartcath {also called an arteriogram} he says this is to be cautious. not because he thinks anything is wrong. he wants to make sure my heart is strong enough for the surgery. this way if we do this it will be out of the way and he wont be questioning whether he should've done it. SO, we are scheduled monday {dont know time yet} for the heartcath. i wont be completely sedated-he said i will be "comfortable". the procedure takes about an hour i think and then recovery is 2-4hours {this is bc they have to hold pressure on my leg for a really long time to stop the bleeding, then im on bed rest for a few hours after that}. after this appointment we were able to go eat something really quick because we had to meet the transplant social worker. this involved questions about support, {which i obviously have a TON of} we talked about insurance, what happens before during and after transplant. just all of the "other" stuff- besides medical. i was done by 3:45! i was supposed to have a mammogram, but that was scheduled for thursday instead.

where this leaves us: tomorrow-i meet with the lung transplant surgeon. that is my only appointment tomorrow!! thursday- mammogram in the afternoon. friday-pulmonary rehab. monday-heart cath. as far as i know that is all i have left to do. they may add more things and more tests. we dont know. they will get my blood work back tomorrow and i will know if they need to redraw anything. after all of these tests are done the transplant team will meet next week and decide whether i can and should be listed. i should know if i am on the lung transplant list next friday october 30th. SHOULD is a very big word in that sentence. but i suppose there is a chance they wont know yet. my nurse practitioner told me she would be giving me a call that afternoon to let me know. i will let you guys know ASAP. i will make phone calls and then im sure those phone calls will grow into a phone tree...but i will post as soon as i get a chance. dont worry if im not able to post that actual day.

this is kind of crazy. i dont know what im feeling. i dont think my emotions have caught up with me yet. im not scared. and i dont think im excited either. i dont know what i am. but i know God will lead me in the right direction and thats the way i will go. and right now, this is it. i am taking the biggest leap of faith i have ever taken and will probably ever take in my entire life. i have no idea what to expect. i have no idea what will happen. only He does. and i am quite alright with that. maybe thats why i cant explain my emotions. maybe God has me at peace with this, because if i were scared or excited that would mess with my decision making. i thought it would be hard to make this decision. but it has been easy. and i know that is God. i know this is where God wants me to be, and im perfectly fine being here.

im taking a leap of faith. and i know God will catch me.

until then,

leigh allyn
