day one.

one down. two to go.

im officially done with day one of the transplant evaluation. i cant say it went perfectly smooth. it went almost without a hitch.

i got to the lab on time this morning at 8AM. checked in. and was laying down getting my blood drawn by 8:20. she started out in my right arm and after 15 minutes and about 15 tubes that vein had enough. so she moved to my left arm. and was able to finish the remaining 15 tubes. i drank some water sat up slowly and i was fine! yay!

moving on.

i continued to the pulmonary lab to get my blood gases drawn. this has to be drawn out of an artery. so they stick about a 2" long needle in your wrist where you can feel your pulse. there wasn't a chair for me to "lie down" in so i had to sit up. but i didnt think anything of it because it wasn't as much blood. it took about 2 minutes to get the right amount of blood. she pulled the needle out and had to put tremendous pressure on my wrist. which after about 3 minutes i realized how bad my wrist was hurting. then i got really hot. and the room started spinning. then i felt the blood leave my face. i told mom i was about to go....she said "its ok im right here" and the last thing i remember i said "well im not here" and the next thing i knew i woke up on the floor. mom said i went OUT and she had to pick me up and put me on the floor-all the while the nurse is still holding to dear life to my wrist {so i dont bleed to death} i came to drank some coke and was okay after about 15 minutes. i was ready to go home but i was okay.

moving on.

radiology. bone scan. check. easy. ct scan of sinuses, and chest. check. easy. xrays of face, jaw, and chest. check. easy.

lunch!!!! we met nana for lunch at j. alexanders!! yummo!!!! fresh air. nice. good food, even better.

next.

meet nurse practitioner of lung transplant team to talk. got A LOT of questions answered. learned so many things i didnt know before. got the low down about the whole entire process. talked for almost 2 hours. then had to watch a video that A:needed a serious update; and B:was extremely redundant. it pretty much repeated word for word what we learned from the NP but we had to watch it anyway. and. then we were done...for the day.

whew. it was a loooong day. thats for sure. it went very smoothly {well besides that one bump}. all of the appointments were on time. i wasnt late and neither were the doctors and nurses. everyone was very helpful. all in all it was a good first day experience. i pray tomorrow goes just as well- or better!

tomorrow doesn't look like it will be as involved as today but it may be just as long.

*and a praise i failed to mention in the past posts- kristina {sis-in-law} was baptized on friday october 9th and aaron rededicated his life to Christ. also, they placed membership at our church! it was such an amazing weekend!!
