22 years ago today, Friday, March 13 was the beginning of a different life for all of us.
On Friday, March 13, 1987 i was at the babysitter's like every other day. i hadn't been acting like myself all day. i wouldn't take my bottle and i was just fussy. in the afternoon mom got a phone call from my sitter saying i coughed up a mucus plug and i didn't look well, and she should probably come get me. mom immediately took me to the pediatrician and he said i needed to go straight to the ER. that evening they told mom they were certain i had cystic fibrosis but they couldn't do the sweat test until monday because the technicians had gone home. i stayed in the hospital all weekend and monday they did the test. the results came back tuesday. i was released from the hospital on wed. the 18th...and went straight to baptist with to see my moms dad who was admitted (he had lung cancer) and he died on the 19th.
Then my parents didn't think i would make it to 5 years old. But look at me, 22!!!! the amazing advances in medical technology and the power of prayer have gotten me to where i am today.
Speaking of today. UGH. still not feeling as good as i hoped. im still severely nauseated. and i still have had a constant fever. spiking as high as 101.9. if im not nauseated my stomach is hurting severely. i ate lunch...but lost it 2 hours later. this sucks! i cant lose weight! it isn't something i can afford! im getting discouraged. but am trying to stay positive because as soon as i get negative i won't get any better. nothing else really new. so hopefully the weekend will bring better days!
until then,
leigh allyn
