if anyone were to ever question the power of prayer...well they are morons...but, they could just look at me. because well, i have proof here and now that many many prayers have been answered.
i had a doctor's appointment today. i was dreading it. so much in fact, i asked mom to call yesterday and reschedule. because A} i knew they would ask me to get my flu shot and i didn't want to get it because i didn't want to get a fever on the weekend of the wedding. and B} because, frankly i just didn't want to go... i had this terrible feeling that my numbers and my weight would be down, and they would start me back on IVs. mom called. surprising i know. but they couldn't reschedule because they didn't have openings for weeks. so, i went. dragging my feet along into the CF clinic. i did my PFT's and tried my hardest. i even got light headed. bad, i know. and margarie {the RT, who is at least 85 years old} told me it looked like my numbers were down a little...how could this be?! i just finished 4 weeks of antibiotics! so, i was still bummed. we went back to a room and waited all of ten minutes-which is the shortest time in clinic history! and in walks Dr. W!! thank you, Jesus! i LOVE her. she had this awesome smile on her face and she says "well, you look great, and so do your numbers!!!" huh?! i was thinking but margarie said...... well she must be blind....she is 108. Dr. W showed me my numbers and this is how they looked.... back in March when i was my sickest my FEV1 {This is the maximum volume of air that can forcibly blow out in the first second-and is measured in liters} was .62 liters. that is low low low. today i was 1.04 liters!!! can you believe that!? at my appointment in july i was .92 liters. i was up 12% today. Dr. W said that patients who go as low as .62 liters rarely to never rebound back as much as i did. i was waiting for her to say this was a miracle. but she didnt have to, because i know it was. it was an answer to many many of your prayers. she said i sounded great. my weight looked great. and she was overall super pleased with how i was doing. this was the best outcome i could have looked for. i never in a million years thought that this appointment would have gone that great. i mean can you believe i wanted to cancel it? the good Lord knew what he was doing when they didnt have any openings for weeks. {when doesn't the good Lord not know what he's doing?} they also said i could come back next week and stop in just to get my flu shot, that i didnt have to risk it before the wedding.
you guys. i just am on cloud nine about right now. i feel like i could jump to the heavens, and run around the world...okay maybe just around the block, about right now. i dont know how to thank you for your many many prayers on my behalf. thank you thank you thank you. i can remember back in March when i was so sick and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, and i thought it was never going to end, thinking i just want to feel better for the wedding. and look at this, TWO DAYS before the wedding and im doing the best ive been since the beginning of the year! oh man, that gives me chills. the LORD is good. He does marvelous things.
thank you so much for being my prayer warriors. you get me through this.
the wedding is saturday, im sure ill be MIA for a few days. don't worry.
until then,
leigh allyn
